Uses
Nasonex is used to treat allergy symptoms, such as runny nose, nasal congestion, and sneezing in adults and children over 3 years of age. It may also be used to prevent nasal symptoms of seasonal allergies in adults and children 12 years and older. It may be used with other medicines.

How To Use
How much medicine you use/give and how often you use/give it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are using/giving, talk with your health care provider. Carefully follow read the information provided with Nasonex and reread it each time you get this prescription refilled. Use/give Nasonex exactly as directed by your health care provider. Shake Nasonex well before each use. Do not spray into the eyes or directly onto the nasal septum. Before using Nasonex, prime the pump by spraying it 10 times or until a fine spray appears. The pump may be stored unused for up to 1 week without repriming. If it is not used for more than 1 week, reprime it by spraying it twice, or until a fine spray appears. If you are using Nasonex to prevent seasonal allergy symptoms, begin treatment 2 to 4 weeks before the expected start of the pollen season. Contact your health care provider if acne or cushingoid symptoms (weight gain; sleep disorders; raised blood pressure; [easy] bruising; moon face;thin, vulnerable skin; mood changes; blurred vision; brittle bones; irregular or absent menstrual cycles; excessive hair growth; muscular weakness; impaired wound healing; tiredness) occur while using Nasonex. Avoid exposure to chickenpox or measles while using Nasonex. If you are exposed, contact your health care provider at once. The maximum benefit of Nasonex is usually achieved within 1 to 2 weeks. Contact your doctor if symptoms worsen or do not improve. Lab tests may be required to monitor therapy. Be sure to keep appointments. Consult a health care provider before giving Nasonex to children under 3 years of age.

Side Effects
Every medicine can cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if any of the following occurs: Severe- Severe allergic reaction (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); nasal ulcers;oral thrush (white patches in the mouth). Common - Headache; viral infection; sore throat; nosebleed with blood in mucus;coughing; upper respiratory tract infection; painful menstruation; muscle and joint pain; sinus inflammation; joint pain; asthma; bronchitis; chest pain; inflammation of the eye; diarrhea; indigestion; flu-like symptoms (headache;tiredness; muscle aches; fever); muscle pain; nausea; runny nose; diarrhea;nose irritation; ear infection; wheezing. Other - Glaucoma; cataracts; vomiting.

Precautions
Before using Nasonex, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding; if you and/or your child are taking any other prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement; if you and/or your child have previously been treated with steroids for a long period of time; if you and/or your child have recently experienced nasal septum ulcers, nasal surgery, or nasal trauma; if you and/or your child have an untreated fungal, bacterial, or viral infection; if you and/or your child have a herpes infection near the eye; if you and/or your child have tuberculosis; if you and/or your child have asthma or a respiratory tract infection; if you and/or your child have any other medical condition

Notes
If the spray is removed from its cardboard container, do not expose it to direct light for a long period of time. Brief exposure to light with normal use is acceptable.

Missed Dose
If a dose is missed, use/give it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, restart medication and advise your doctor or pharmacist at your next appointment.

Storage
Store between 36 and 77 degrees F. Protect from light.
