How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If this occurs, sit or lie down and avoid sudden changes in posture. Notify your doctor if a rash, hives or any sign of allergy develops. Avoid alcohol while taking Effexor XR. Have your blood pressure checked regularly. Do not stop taking Effexor XR suddenly. The stopping of using Effexor XR should be done gradually. At least 14 days should pass between stopping the use of a monoamine oxidase inhibitor and the starting of Effexor XR. In addition, at least 7 days should pass after stopping Effexor XR before starting a monoamine oxidase inhibitor. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Effexor XR.
